Bio
The Meatmen, brain-child of one man-child Tesco Vee, has existed
off and on since 1979. Moving over 300,000 units since inception,
the band was and is a vehicle for Vee's warped and sophomoric
persona, as he lays waste (with tongue occasionally firmly planted
in cheek) to organized religion, societal norms, and the French.
From humble punk rock beginnings in East Lansing, MI in 1979, The
Meatmen rose to heavy-duty heights in the 80s and 90s before
cashing in their dubloons in 1996. The Meatkrew's legacy is rich
in punk history, including members such as Ian MacKaye, Lyle
Preslar, and Brian Baker. The Meatmen played shows with many of
punk's essential bands, including Misfits, Minor Threat, Fear,
Dead Kennedys, The Fix, Necros, Negative Approach, and many more.
The Meatmen's triumphant return to SXSW (with a prime Friday night
showcase) was the springboard for a full docket of shows planned in
the Midwest and East Coast in March, April and May. And if that's not reasonably
impressive enough for ya, how about this - Tesco's label Meat King
Records has just reissued three of their best selling CDs: Rock
'N' Roll Juggernaut, We're The Meatmen And You Still Suck! and
Pope On A Rope; plans to re-pop War Of The Superbikes 2 are next.
The Devil's In The Details Vol 1, a DVD chronicling the band's
live legacy and Tesco's TV show will be out in May. All of this
culminates with the band's first new album in 12 years, The
Meatmen Cover The Earth. This will be released late 2008 and will
feature USDA choice renditions of all of Tesco's favorite songs of
the last 40 years!
Weak of heart need not apply, cuz this is the real deal folks, and
this hellbound train is fast approaching! Hop on board, fuckers!
